Recently, a logistics company in Dubai deployed hundreds of Ultravision's Blind Spot Detection (BSD) systems in phases to enhance forklift safety during cargo handling. The system uses AI algorithms and machine vision technology, combined with sound and light alarms, to alert forklift operators and pedestrians, helping to prevent accidents.
In logistics, warehousing, and transportation, forklifts are essential for improving handling efficiency but also pose significant safety risks. Operators often focus intensely on their tasks, which can lead to a lack of awareness of their surroundings. This limited visibility can result in accidents, as operators may not notice pedestrians in time.
Ultravision's BSD system effectively mitigates these risks by addressing blind spots and ensuring better operator awareness. The system consists of a Mobile Digital Video Recorder (MDVR), audible and visual alarms, and eight BSD cameras. These cameras include both side-view and rear view types, with adjustable angles to cover a wide range of views.
In this particular project, Ultravision innovatively positioned eight BSD cameras around the forklift, providing comprehensive pedestrian detection in all directions. When a pedestrian enters the forklift's working zone, the system automatically triggers an audible alarm and flashes a red light to warn both the operator and the pedestrian, helping to prevent collisions.
Previously, Ultravision supported only a 4-channel BSD system, but for this project, our R&D team developed a customized 8-channel host to meet the customer's specific requirements.
